I have also thought about doing damage tests against static enemies, but all the bows would need the same ar to make it consistent.A few observations:A shortbow with hawk ring has more range than a black bow.Feather arrows have more range than basic arrows and hawk ring.Large arrows and hawk ring have shorter range than basic arrows and no ring.I recently noticed that the sniper crossbow with 59 range has a shorter shot distance when fired than a longbow with 50 range. My numbers so far are mostly close guesstimates, I need a better method or some more concrete results to base my tests on. I have not tested greatbows yet, but my test aren't at that level yet. I then measured how high they hit the wall in comparison to what bow I used, which arrows I shot and if the ring was worn or not (the targeted area will not change as long as you do not use the thumbstick while changing gear, so it's possible to swap the setup and still get fairly consistent results). The ranges of the different bows are: 42, 50 and 63, crossbows are: 35, 42, 50, 59, greatbows are 50 and 63. The wall must be far enough away to make the arrows lose height (I primarily used the abyss watcher arena and shot from near the bonfire towards the entrance). This is also from memory, so some information might be false:My approach have mostly consisted of firing arrows and bolts against a wall where I can see where they hit. A few notes, if anyone feels like testing, or have any better ideas for performing tests.
